Your Body Isn’t the Problem, It’s Pointing to One: How to Read Hormonal Imbalance Symptoms

How often have you thought something like:
“Why can’t I just get it together?”
“Why am I so reactive lately?”
“What’s wrong with me?”
We blame our body when it changes. When we’re tired, bloated, or anxious. We assume we’re broken or doing something wrong.
But what if those symptoms aren’t the problem…What if they’re the messengers?
Your Body Isn’t Betraying You, It’s Broadcasting
In perimenopause, hormonal shifts can feel like a betrayal. One minute you’re fine, the next you’re crying at a dog food commercial or snapping at your partner over something small.
But here’s the truth:
Your body is not malfunctioning. It’s communicating.
🚩 When your cortisol is too high, you might feel wired and tired.
🚩 When progesterone dips, anxiety or insomnia can flare.
🚩 When blood sugar crashes, so does your mood.
These aren’t flaws. These are flags. Your body is waving them like,
“Hey! Something’s off. Can you help me?”
From Self-Criticism to Understanding Hormonal Imbalance Symptoms
Most of us were never taught how to speak the language of our hormones.
So we default to criticism instead of curiosity.
“Why am I so bloated?” → “What is my gut trying to tell me?”
“Why do I feel rage out of nowhere?” → “Is this tied to my cycle or my stress load?”
“Why can’t I sleep?” → “Is cortisol or blood sugar disrupting my night?”
You don’t have to know all the science.
You just need to know this: Your body wants to work with you. Not against you.
3 Steps to Start Listening Differently
Name the symptom without shame. “I’m feeling wired and overstimulated.”
Ask what might be driving it. Did I skip a meal? Am I running on cortisol? Am I ovulating or nearing my period?
Offer yourself something simple. A breath. A walk. A protein-rich snack. A glass of water. A boundary.
Listening is an act of self-leadership.
